Concarneau is a jewel on the Finistère coast. It is a lively coastal resort, rich in history and heritage with beautiful beaches, a thalasso spa centre, a quaint walled town, ports, restaurants and shops.
The beaches in Concarneau
« Le Cabellou » beaches
These are the most preserved beaches in Concarneau and are ideal for swimming. Several beaches are separated by rocks which give them a « wild » aspect. A fort was built here to protect the coast from military attack.
« La Corniche » beaches
These beautiful beaches along Concarneau’s corniche offer a great viewpoint to watch the pleasure and fishing boasts come into the port. The GR34 coastal path runs alongside the coastal road leading to the walled town.
« Sables Blancs » beach
This beach is located on the other side of Concarneau, just in front of the spa centre where you can indulge ! The GR34 coastal path runs along the coast to La Forêt Fouesnant.
Ville Close (walled town)
The Ville Close (walled town) is one of the most visited sites in Brittany with over 1.5 million visitors a year. A fortified town between the 15th and 16th centuries, nestled on a small island 350 m long and 100 m wide, it is distinguished by its belfry and sundial. Two small bridges link the Ville Close to the mainland.
The main street, Rue Vauban, is lined with charming traditional houses. On each side, a maze of cobbled streets lead to the fishing harbour. On your way, don’t miss the splendid fountain, Place Saint-Guénolé.
There are several ways to reach Concarneau

The marina
There are plenty of boats bobbing up and down in the marina creating a picturesque setting around the « Ville Close ». It is without a doubt one of the prettiest marina’s in Brittany.

Musée de la pêche (fishing museum) :
This museum, located in the Ville Close, is devoted to the world of fishing and is home to a splendid collection of maritime heritage.
Marinarium
« Learn about the sea and understand it, so we can take better care of it » is the motto of this marine biology station in Concarneau. Discover the extraordinary biodiversity of the oceans through educational activities and its aquariums.
Château de Keriolet
Located 5 minutes from the campsite, the Château de Keriolet, built in the 13th century and reorganised at the end of the 19th century, offers guided tours recounting fascinating stories.
Le petit train (tourist train)
A commented tour on a tourist train along which you will learn all about the history of Concarneau, its canning industry, fishermen and artists.
